Electrical Design Manager - Control Panel

Te-Tech Process Solutions Ltd is part of the Trant Engineering Group and is based in Southampton.

Te-Tech is a product and process technology provider selling water and wastewater treatment solutions to municipal, commercial and industrial clients within the UK and international markets.

We design, custom build and install a wide range of high quality control panels, motor control centres (MCC’s) and automation systems, offering conventional, intelligent and withdrawable systems with outstanding reliability and functionality.

We currently have a requirement for a Electrical Design Manager with a background in control panels, to join the Te-Tech team. The Electrical Design Manager will be a hands-on designer and will also oversee a small team of Designers, responsible for the electrical design output. We are open to applications from individuals wishing to work from our Southampton office or those seeking a hybrid role, based from home and office.

Duties include but are not limited to;

  • Managing a small team of electrical designers
  • Reporting to the General Manager & Directors
  • Being responsible for the electrical design output within Te-Tech
  • Attending client meetings when necessary
  • Providing support during tender stage when required
  • Pre-Contract Site Surveys
  • Equipment Selection and Purchasing
  • Design of Control Panel Schematic Diagrams and General Arrangements from User Requirement Specifications and Control Philosophies
  • Production of documentation packages for our workshop operatives
  • Production of Operation and Maintenance Manuals
  • Onsite Fault Finding and Modification of Electrical Control Systems
  • Creation of Risk Assessments, Method Statements, Site Progress Reports and other paperwork

Skills / Background:

  • A background of working as a Senior level Electrical Controls Design Engineer or an Electrical Design Manager
  • Good understanding of BSEN 61439 LV Directive
  • Able to work alone or as part of a team
  • Experienced Autocad user (ability to use Promis-e would be advantageous but not essential as training can be given)
  • Client facing with excellent interpersonal skills
  • Hard working and self-motivated
  • Either relevant engineering qualification or by experience
